Density = mass divided by volume
The Density of a substance is the mass per unit volume of a substance.
But why is salt water denser than pure water?
In pure water, the molecules are spreaded around the water. But after dissolving salt into it, it's molecules will also take up space in the water, causing both molecules to be squeezed together. Therefore causing the water denser.
